R. Madhavan born on June 1, 1970 is a Popular Indian actor, also known as Maddy. Madhavan acted in TV before coming into films. Madhavan began to act after marriage, at the age of twenty-nine, and his short career has seen performances in diverse roles. His debut in movies came in the form of Shanti Shanti Shanti, a Kannada movie also starring Abbas and Prakash Raj.
Madhavan's parents are Ranganathan and Saroja. Madhavan's father, Ranganathan is an ex-army man. His mother, Saroja Ranganathan is a bank worker. Madhavan's younger sister, Devika is an aspiring model and actress. About madhavan wife, Madhavan is married to Sarita, a former air hostess whom he married after 3 years of courtship. They have a son Vedaant who was born in 2006. He won the Indian Championship for Public Speaking and was subsequently selected to represent India at the Young Businessmen Conference in Tokyo, Japan in 1992.

In Alaipayuthey, paired with Shalini Kumar, he portrayed to role of "Karthik", a husband experiencing difficulties with his marriage. Madhavan's performance was well appreciated in that movie and he became actor madhavan. Since then madhavan movies are very appreciated amoung the mass.
In year 2008 Madhavan is appearing in "Evano Oruvan" which is a remake of Dombivli fast. Madhavan says about this movie "Unlike many other films of mine, Evano Oruvan is a part of my life. It goes beyond my profession. I wanted it to be solely my baby. That is why I bought it from Abbas Mastan and K Sera, and became the producer of the film."
