Lakshmi Rai was born on May 6, 1981. She was born and bought up in Belgaum, Karnataka.
She has appeared in South Indian films, mostly Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada films. Her first filim was released in 2004. Most notably, there have been some media reports that she has been linked romantically to Indian cricketer Sreesanth and then also with indian captain Dhoni. She was a model before entering the film fraternity. She has modeled in several ads such as Bru coffee, Saravana’s stores and Fair and Lovely. Her portrayal of her role as Aarthi in the film Dhaam Dhoom was widely appreciated by the audience.
Lakshmi Rai is getting very popular in Malayalam film with her mega-blockbuster To Harihar Nagar. After romancing Mammootty in two films (super hit Annan Thambi and average Parunthu), Lakshmi Rai will now be his heroine for the third time in director Shafi's forthcoming action comedy Chattambinadu, scripted by Benny P. Nayarambalam. Lakshmi seems to be the favourite heroine of Malayalam super star Mammootty too!
